What are some challenges you face as a writer?

Finding something different to write about and having a really creative outlet because it’s hard for people to say something that is so different. People like different things…you know.

What makes writing special compared to other arts?

When you are writing you are analytical. Writing is visceral.

What makes a “good” writer?

Someone who is willing to accept criticism and reshape their writing […] if they are ready to accept it and analyze it.

If you could publish a book, what would it be?

It would be about religion — how it’s controlling us and it is “man-made.”

How do you get creative with writing?

I watch different foreign films and try to embrace my creativity. My favorite movie is Eat Pray Love. It talks about true love for oneself through Enlightenments. It makes me really want to write.

And what about poetry? Do you think it’s hard for people to understand?

Because it’s lyrical and it can have two meanings. Some people are not good at interpreting in figurative sense — but more literal. With people nowadays, poetry would make more sense or accepted through spoken words and music. People are starting to read less because of technology and different forms of interpretation.

What do you do to write and execute your creative ideas?

I eat ice cream. Or, I listen to classical music. I like to think about Khaled Hosseini’s writings to create an idea of what and why I want to write something.

What was the most meaningful writing piece that you’ve read?

And the Mountains Echoed by Khaled Hosseini because it stresses the values of a family.

What was the most challenging piece that you’ve written? Why was it so hard?

I am not done with it yet but the one about religion because it talks about different theories of religion. Like how religion has played into false beliefs in our world — and the different stories that have existed in our world for so long.
